**Investing in a Well-Designed Security Fence: Protecting Your Property and Business**
As a property or business owner, you face significant risks and costs associated with security breaches and criminal activity. Investing in a high-quality, well-designed security fence is a smart and effective way to safeguard your assets and maintain peace of mind.
Not all security fences are created equal. Here are 13 essential considerations before installing a security fence:
*The reality is that a poorly designed security fence can inadvertently encourage crime by providing hiding spots, obstructing surveillance, or impeding security responses. Conversely, research demonstrates that a properly designed security fence is a proven investment that can:*
- Discourage break-in attempts
- Prevent unauthorized entry
- Slow intruders down
- Increase the likelihood of apprehension
A robust security fence is a valuable asset. Take the time to review these 13 critical design features and consult with the experts at Profence to discover how we can help protect your home or business
1. What’s the Function of Your Fence?
While it may seem straightforward, understanding your fence’s primary purpose is crucial. Is it solely for security, or does aesthetic appeal also matter? If your business aims to foster a welcoming environment, striking a balance between security and attractive design is essential.
Avoid using intimidating features like razor wire or electric fences where they could deter customers. Instead, options like Palisade, Boulevard security fencing, or chain wire can provide strong anti-climb features, high visibility for surveillance, and durability, all while maintaining an appealing appearance.
Determine the appropriate security level: For controlling access to swimming pools, garden areas, or separating traffic, solutions like Banksia, Garden, Harvest, Roll Top Safety Fencing, or Esplanade Pool Fencing may suffice.

Enhancing Safety at Melbourne Airport: Our Role in Security Upgrades
Melbourne Airport, one of Australia's busiest transportation hubs, continually evolves to ensure the safety and security of passengers, staff, and assets. Recently, we had the privilege of contributing to these ongoing improvements by providing and installing cutting-edge security solutions designed to enhance operational efficiency and safety.
Supplying and Installing Automatic Sliding Gates
A key component of the upgrade was the installation of two high-performance automatic sliding gates. Powered by GTS Super Quick gate motors, these gates are designed for rapid, reliable operation, minimizing wait times and improving traffic flow. Their robust construction ensures long-lasting durability, even under heavy usage, and their smooth automation elevates the overall security perimeter.
Advanced Safety Features: Tyre Spikes, Loop Detectors, and Radars
Safety is paramount at a busy airport, and our team implemented automatic tyre spikes equipped with loop detectors and radar sensors. These features act as critical safety barriers, preventing unauthorized vehicle access and ensuring that only permitted vehicles enter designated areas. The loop detectors and radars work seamlessly with the tyre spikes to provide real-time monitoring, alerting security personnel to any breaches or suspicious activity.

In late 2024, the dedicated team at RJL Commercial Fencing and Gates undertook an ambitious and large-scale project at Uniting Agewell in Bendigo—a task that challenged their expertise, precision, and commitment. Over the course of November and December 2024, our team meticulously executed the installation of 450 meters of high-quality rod top tubular fencing, along with two massive 9-meter cantilever sliding gates, double gates, and comprehensive automation—including all cabling and electrical components.
A Project of Magnitude and Precision
The Uniting Agewell project was not just any fencing job; it was a comprehensive upgrade designed to enhance security, accessibility, and functionality for the facility. Spanning 450 meters, the new fencing needed to stand robust against environmental elements while maintaining a sleek, professional appearance. Our team selected rod top tubular fencing for its durability and aesthetic appeal, ensuring the perimeter was both secure and visually appealing.
Engineering Marvel: The Massive Gates
One of the highlights of this project was the installation of two enormous 9-meter cantilever sliding gates. These gates are engineering feats—massive, smooth-operating, and built to withstand heavy use. The cantilever design was chosen for its reliability and minimal ground interference, ideal for the busy operational environment of Uniting Agewell.
In addition to the sliding gates, double gates were also installed, providing versatile access points. All gates were fitted with state-of-the-art automation systems, enabling seamless operation via remote control or access systems. Our team meticulously installed all necessary cabling and electrical components to ensure smooth, reliable functioning of the automated access.
